Mueller Keys Kats to 12-2 Win

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Nov. 17 – The Erie Community College hockey team scored the game’s first three goals and went on to a record a 12-2 win over Mohawk Valley CC Saturday afternoon at the Cheektowaga Rec Center.

ECC’s Eric Mueller (Hamburg, N.Y./Canisius) had three goals and two assists while Bradley Ferrell (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North) had a goal and four assists. Joshua Jaszcz (Cheektowaga, N.Y./West Seneca West) recorded two goals and an assist while Alexander Stahl (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) netted two goals.

Mueller gave the Kats a 1-0 lead with 10:29 remaining in the first period. Jaszcz scored 11 seconds later. Following a goal by Matt Shumate (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Falls) goal, Mohawk Valley CC cut the ECC lead to 3-1. The Kats used goals by Ferrell and Ryan Rogalski (Lancaster, N.Y.) to take a 5-1 lead after one period. Rogalski’s goal came on the power play.

Mohawk Valley answered with a power-play goal of its own before Mueller scored the Kats’ next two goals. Stahl scored the first of two goals for an 8-2 lead after two periods.

Defenseman Ryan Kaufman (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) opened the scoring in the third period. Corey Kinmartin (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca East), Jaszcz and Stahl rounded out the scoring.

Daniel Fulton (Buffalo, N.Y./Bishop Timon-St. Jude) made 16 saves for the win.

ECC is now 4-2. The Kats will meet Monroe CC in Rochester, N.Y., on Nov. 27.
