The Erie Community College Board of Trustees would like to announce the election of their newest chairwoman, current board member Patricia H. Mertz, who will serve in this leadership position for a two-year term.
Mertz, a Buffalo resident, has served on ECC's Board of Trustees since being appointed to a seven-year term by New York State Governor George E. Pataki in 2006. Outside of work with ECC, she is the owner and chief executive officer of West Metal Works, Inc. and Metal Locking Services. Behind her stewardship, these entities have received several awards, including Contractor of the Year from the Small Business Administration and Supplier of the Year from West Valley Nuclear Services.
Mertz is also active in several organizations, serving on the Women's Committee of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Roswell Park Alliance, the Women's Association of the Park Country Club, the Dennis J. Szefel Memorial Foundation and as a community volunteer for Gilda's Club.
