BUFFALO, N.Y. - Jan. 7 - The Erie Community College men's basketball, the nation's 10th-ranked team, had three players score in double figures as the Kats recorded a 77-67 win over 12th-ranked Community College of Beaver County Saturday afternoon at the Flickinger Center.
The Kats, now 10-2, were led by Brandon Emmitt (Akron, Ohio/Garfield) and Anthony Mason (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bedford Academy) as each player scored 14 points. Sam Hattin (Hamilton, Ont./Our Savior) added 12 points for the Kats. Uche Ogbonna (Westbury, N.Y./Hicksville) snared a team-high 10 rebounds.
The Titans' Maurice Lewis-Briggs had 19 points and 17 rebounds. CCBC is now 13-3.
After the game was tied at 48 at 10:16, ECC's Eyimofee Edukugho (Warri, Nigeria/Our Savior New American) scored on a layup to give ECC a 50-48 lead and start an 8-0 run. Mason later scored five-straight points as the Kats extended the lead 74-60 with 3:16 left.
ECC is now off until Jan. 21 when the Kats play at Alfred State College.
ECC also will have a change to its men's and women's basketball schedules. The Kats will now play at Monroe CC Jan. 31 and will host Monroe CC Feb. 18.
