Kats Split Twin Bill with NCCC

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - Sept. 2 - Sophomore left-handed pitcher Mike Tolsma (Tonawanda, N.Y./Tonawanda) allowed seven hits in six innings of work to lead the Erie Community College baseball team a 10-4 win over Niagara County Community College in game one of a Western New York Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the ECC North Campus.

Niagara CCC won the nightcap, 6-5, by plating a run in the top of the seventh inning. Erie CC had two runners on base with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but the inning ended on a groundout.

In the opener, sophomore first baseman Jesse Zellner (Tonawanda, N.Y./Tonawanda) had two hits and drove in two runs while freshman Steven Hubbs (Hamilton, Ont./Sir Winston Churchill) added three hits and three runs batted in.

In game two, sophomore shortstop Joe Pantano (Fredonia, N.Y./St. Francis) had a two-run single in the third inning.

The Kats (1-1) will play Durham College Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the ECC North Campus.
