Erie Community College will be sponsoring the Western New York and Finger Lakes Region Career Pathways Conference from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Millennium Hotel, 2040 Walden Ave., Cheektowaga, NY.
The conference, “Making the Connection from High School to College to the World of Work,” will provide professional development for business, math, science, technology and career and technical educators; college faculty providing concurrent enrollment courses, secondary and post-secondary administrators and school counselors.
Participants will learn how to establish career academies; transform students into teachers; improve the marketing of your program and how to integrate academics into career and technical education programs.
The keynote speaker will be Jason Ohler, professor emeritus of educational technology at the University of Alaska and author of “Beyond Essays: New Kids, New Media and New Literacies.”
