ALLENTOWN, PA - After competing in the Region III Championships, Erie Community College traveled to Allentown to compete in the Intercollegiate Team Championships. The women finished 11th overall while the men only competed individually.
The women bowled in four different blocks of team matches. Each block consisted of 16 games. After bowling 64 games overall, the women totaled 11,539 pins. At one point in the different blocks of bowling, the women were as high as ninth before settling into the 11th spot after the last block.
Individually for the men, George Pierce Jr. finished 18th with a total of 1,221 pins. He rolled a high game of 225 and averaged 203.5. Also, Garrett Gibson (Oakfield-Alabama, Oakfield, N.Y) finished 42nd with 1,159 total pins and a high game of 226. He averaged 193 over those six games.
As for the women, Alicia Alquire (Lake Shore / Angola, N.Y) finished in 21st with a total 1,172 pins. Her highest game was a 241 and she averaged 195. Elizabeth Szpara (Orchard Park / Orchard Park, N.Y) finished in 52nd with 1,095 pins and she averaged 182.5 per game.
Both the men and the women will travel to Reno, NV to finish their bowling season in April as they compete in the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships.
