The Erie Community College (3-5) baseball team won a pair of games Wednesday in Vero Beach, Florida. Erie cruised to a 14-2 win over Minnesota State CTC and then came away with a 4-3 win over Academie Baseball.
Sophomore Kiernan Harris pitched six innings of one-hit ball to pick up the win over Minnesota State. Freshman Austin Benshadle was three-for-four at the plate.
Benshadle had two hits, including a triple in the nightcap. Sophomore Joe Hewak scored scored the winning run in the tenth inning on a suicide squeeze from freshman Joe Hopkins. Academie Baseball had bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning but freshman Jay John struck out the final two batters to preserve the win.
