BUFFALO, NY - Connor Simmons continued his success today and marched toward another school record with another two passing touchdowns in a 35-7 defeat of Onondaga CC at Jim Ball Stadium.
Simmons finished the day 10 of 21 for 157 yards and two touchdowns and has now recorded ten passing touchdowns this season, just two short of the ECC school record of 12 set back in 2003 by Mike Currie. It wasn't easy battling the wind and the rain but Simmons did what was necessary to complete the victory. Simmons also added 43 rushing yards on nine carries.
He had a lot of help today as the Kats were making plays on both sides of the ball. Along with Simmons on offense, Nick Jones (Buffalo, NY / West Seneca West) finished the game with three catches for 46 yards and two touchdowns. Tahj Dennis finished with 34 yards on ten carries for the Kats.
On defense, Chauncey Kennedy (Deland, FL / Deland) had two interceptions in the game, including a 15-yard interception return for a touchdown. He also added two tackles on defense. Fred Haynes added more points for the Kats on defense as he forced a fumble and recovered it in the endzone for a touchdown.
Also, Khalil Sommerville (Buffalo, NY / Bennett) finished the game as the leading tackler for the Kats, finishing with eight tackles and added a half sack as well. Kareem Manns finished with five tackles, including two for a loss.
The Kats (2-6) will finish their season next week at home against Monroe CC at 12 p.m. at Jim Ball Stadium.
