Kats Split wtih Monroe CC

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - Sept. 12 - The Erie Community College baseball team saw its three-game win streak snapped in game two of Wednesday's Western New York Athletic Conference twin bill against Monroe CC at the ECC North Campus. After the Kats recorded a 6-4 win in game one, Monroe CC picked up a 4-3 win in game two.

The Kats used a three-run sixth inning, highlighted by hits from Nick Galenti (Cheektowaga, N.Y./St. Mary's) and Josh Vaccaro (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius), to rally for the win. Vaccaro had three hits and drove in two runs. Trent Unverdorben (Portville, N.Y./Portville Central) and Galenti each scored twice. Ian Walsh (Ontario, N.Y./Wayne Central) picked up the win with Mike D'Eletto (Walworth, N.Y./Wayne Central) nabbing the save.

The nightcap saw Monroe CC score the winning run in the seventh inning without a hit. The Kats attempted to rally in the bottom of the frame by loading the bases but saw the game end with a line drive to right field. After Monroe CC took a 2-0 lead after three innings, ECC tied the score with runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Monroe CC scored in the sixth by Vinny Sherman (North Collins, N.Y./North Collins) drove in a run in the Kats' half of the frame to tie the score.

ECC will play Genesee CC at 1 p.m. Saturday in a WNYAC twin bill at the ECC North Campus.
