MERCYHURST, NY – Erie Community College traveled to Mercyhurst to play the Saints on Thursday and lost (98-87) in a high scoring contest.
For the Kats, things started off very poorly as the Saints were aggressive and fast from the start, on their way to 55 first half points. The Kats offense struggled just as much as their defense as they totaled only 36 points in the first half on 36.4% (12 of 33) shooting. Dashawn King (Bronx, NY / ASE) was the only one scoring for the Kats in the first half as he totaled 17 of the opening 36 points.
The second half was the exact opposite of the first. The Kats came out quick and forceful offensively and totaled 53 second half points while only allowing 43 from the Saints. Unfortunately, the deficit was too much to overcome for the Kats and they fell short after a valiant effort.
Overall, the game was very close as both teams turned the ball over 15 times and ECC only lost the rebounding battle by three, 49-45.
Leading the Kats was King who finished the game with (27) points and (10) rebounds while Kareem Sulaiman (Brooklyn, NY / Pacific) finished the game with (14) points and (6) rebounds.
