BUFFALO, N.Y. – (Dec. 18) – Brett Farrell (Derby/Lake Shore Central) won two individual events and anchored two winning relays to lead the Erie Community College men’s swimming and diving team to a win at Saturday’s ECC Second Annual December Long Course Invitational held at the Flickinger Center.
Farrell won the 50-meter freestyle in 26.5 seconds and captured the 100-meter freestyle in 60.39 seconds. He was the anchor on the winning 400 meter freestyle and 200-meter medley relays. The Kats scored 369 points to top Herkimer Community College (304), Genesee Community College (282), and Jamestown Community College (96).
On the women’s side, Herkimer CC won with 378 points. Jamestown CC was second with 218 points, Genesee CC was third with 186 points and ECC was fourth with 155 points.
ECC’s Caitlin Schwinge (Amherst/Sweet Home) won the 800 freestyle in 11:47.83 and Rachelle Schmitt (Elma/Iroquois) won the 100 breaststroke in 1:32.14.
Also winning individual events for the ECC men’s squad were Ryan Walter (Angola/St. Francis), 800 freestyle, 11:52.53; and Ryan Tomporowski (West Seneca/West Seneca East) 200 freestyle, 2:31.21.
The Kats’ next competition will be the Herkimer CC Invitational Jan. 15.
