Kats Split Twin Bill vs. NCCC

SANBORN, N.Y. - May 2 - The Erie Community College baseball team used seven extra-base hits to pick up a 12-9 win in the nightcap of a Region III doubleheader against 10th-ranked Niagara County CC Thursday. NCCC won the opener, 9-4.

ECC scored early in game two, plating six runs in the first two innings. Zach Hayes (Orchard Park, N.Y./Bishop Timon-St. Jude) had a two-run double. Sophomore Brian Barry (Derby, N.Y./Lake Shore) added a two-run homer in the second. Hayes and Barry both finished with four runs batted in. Nick Caboot (Derby, N.Y./Lake Shore) and Hayes each had a pair of doubles. Blair Lakso (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) picked up the win while Michael D'Eletto (Wayne, N.Y./Wayne) picked up the save.

In game one, Nick Manoukarakis (Toronto, Ont./Birchmount Park) had three hits, including a double. Freshman catcher Tyler Hoffhines (Depew, N.Y./Lancaster) drove in two runs and tripled in the fifth. The Thunderwolves opened a 7-0 lead, highlighted by a four-run second inning when they took advantage of five hits. NCCC scored two runs in the third, taking advantage of three walks and a hit batter.

The Kats, now 31-16, will play at Alfred State College Saturday.
