WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - April 3 - The Erie Community College softball team picked up two three-run seventh-inning rallies to defeat Alfred State College Tuesday afternoon at the ECC North Campus. ECC handed the Pioneers a 4-3 loss in game one and an 8-7 setback in game two.
ECC trailed 2-1 heading into the final frame of game one but picked up the 4-3 win when sophomore infielder Lisa Keating (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca West) drove in the winning run with a single. She had two hits in the contest. Freshman Korin Frantz (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) led ECC with three hits in the game. Freshman outfielder Cayla Galus (Tonawanda, N.Y./Tonawanda) and classmate Deanna King (Kenmore, N.Y./Kenmore West) each added two hits.
In the nightcap, sophomore Molly Gasuik (Buffalo, N.Y./Mt. Mercy Academy) gave the Kats the 8-7 win with a double, one of her three hits in the game, to cap the three-run rally. Galus had four hits, including a double while Laura Ryals (Graham, N.C./Graham) was 2-for-2.
ECC, now 4-5, will play Niagara County CC Thursday afternoon in Sanborn, N.Y.
