WILLIAMSVILLE—Erie Community College will be holding an open house for its Pre-Employment Police Basic Training Program on Wednesday, September 18; Thursday, October 17; and Wednesday, November 13 at the Erie County Law Enforcement Training Academy, located inside the 700 wing of Bretschger Hall on ECC’s North Campus at 6205 Main St. in Williamsville.
Times of each Open House will be as follows:
- Wednesday, September 18: 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
- Thursday, October 17: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Wednesday, November 13: 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Entry into the program allows those interested in criminal justice-related fields to pursue a Police Basic Training certificate and Associate in Applied Science in the Police Science Program at the same time.
To qualify for the Police Basic Training Program, participants must be legal residents of the United States and have no felony convictions. Candidates must also have completed 30 or more semester hours of credit-bearing courses with a 2.5 GPA, pass a physical agility test, and pass a background check. (Note: The 30-credit-hour requirement is waived for qualified veterans.)
