BUFFALO, N.Y. - Jan. 29 - In a matchup of the top two teams in the Western New York Athletic Conference, the Erie Community College women's basketball team picked up a 59-47 win over Alfred State College Tuesday night at the Flickinger Center. The win pushes ECC's record to 15-4 overall and 6-0 in league play. ASC is now 12-7 and 4-2.
The Kats were led by sophomore center Alexis Gray (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca East) who had a game-high 20 points to go with 10 rebounds. She also blocked five shots. ECC, the league's top defensive team, forced Alfred State into 28.6 percent shooting from the field (16-of-56) and 35 turnovers.
The Pioneers were led by sophomore Haley Witchella's 19 points and 14 rebounds.
The Kats will play Niagara County CC in Sanborn, N.Y., Feb. 5.
