Rost Wins 125th, Kats Top Broome CC

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. - Feb. 9 - Erie Community College hockey coach Gary Rost won his 125th game Saturday afternoon as the fourth-ranked Kats defeated fifth-ranked Broome CC, 4-1, at the Cheektowaga Rec Center.

ECC, now 12-7, was led by sophomore forward Robert Finn (Amherst, N.Y.) who recorded a goal and an assist, and sophomore forward Eric Mueller (Hamburg, N.Y.) who recorded two assists.

Finn's goal gave ECC a 1-0 lead with 8:22 remaining in the first period. Sophomore forward Joe Rohm (Hamburg, N.Y.) gave the Kats a 2-0 lead when he scored 40 seconds later. The Kats took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission on a goal by Bradley Ferrell (East Amherst, N.Y.).

Broome CC scored a second-period power-play goal before freshman forward Corey Kinmartin (West Seneca, N.Y.) converted a rebound with 3:28 remaining in the contest.

Sophomore goaltender Nic Pagano (Holland, N.Y.) made 17 saves for the win.

The Kats will play Canisius College ACHA at 1 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Cheektowaga Rec Center.
