Kats Split Twin Bill with Genesee CC

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - April 20 - Sophomore pitcher Mike Tolsma (Tonawanda, N.Y./Tonawanda) scattered five hits while pitching a complete game as the Erie Community College baseball team recorded a 13-3 win over Genesee CC Friday afternoon at the ECC North Campus. Genesee snapped ECC's nine-game win streak with an 8-6 victory in the nightcap.

The win was Tolsma's third of the season as the Kats improved to 24-12 overall.

In game one, sophomore Mike Wagner (Williamsville, N.Y./St. Mary's), who threw a no-hitter Thursday and ranks among the NJCAA leaders in hitting, recorded four hits and two runs batted in. Sophomores Matt Creenan (Williamsville, N.Y./Clarence) and Dylan Huch (Gowanda, N.Y./Gowanda) also drove in two runs.

In game two, sophomore Joe Pantano (Fredonia, N.Y./St. Francis and freshman Adam Urschel (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) each had three hits. Pantano had four hits in the two games. Freshman Brian McCarthy (Tonawanda, N.Y./Tonawanda) had a two-run single.

The Kats will play Monroe CC at 2 p.m. Sunday at the ECC North Campus.
