Men’s track finishes ninth at University of Rochester

The Erie Community College men’s track and field team finished ninth at the University of Rochester Invitational on Saturday, April 10. Meanwhile, the women’s team finished 13th.

Sophomore Kevin Wartinger was the lone individual winner, crossing the tape first in the 400 meter hurdles in 55.66. Freshman Brandon Ganschow was third in the shot put with a throw of 13.1 meters and sophomore Mike Golombek took fourth in the discus with a throw of 40.41 meters. Freshman Kevin Green had three top-seven finishes. He was fifth in the triple jump (12.72 meters), sixth in the long jump (6.29 meters) and seventh in the high jump (1.73 meters).

Sophomore Amanda Solly led the Erie women with a fourth place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 12:37.70. Freshman Renee Valentino was seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:15.29.
