Ordonez Powers ECC Men's Team to Win

Saturday, September 25, 2010

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (Sept. 25) - The Erie Community College men's soccer team recorded its second-straight win with a 4-1 victory at Jefferson Community College Saturday.

The Kats, now 6-2, got a pair of goals and two assists from freshman Pablo Ordonez (Cheektowaga/Cheektowaga).

ECC scored in the third minute when Ordonez found Adan Mukumbira (Buffalo/Grover Cleveland) behind the JCC defense and Mukumbira scored his 10th goal of the season to make it 1-0.

Mukumbira returned the favor and fed Ordonez for a goal in the 15th minute for a 2-0 lead.

"It was a tough, hard-fought game. It wasn't decided until the final 10 minutes," ECC head coach Bernie Feldmann said. "It was a very physical game and we were battling the wind in the second half."

Jefferson CC scored in the 70th minute before Mohamed S. Mohamed (Lackawanna/Lackawanna) scored after receiving a pass from Ordonez. Ordonez rounded out the scoring with a penalty kick goal in the 89th minute.

Craig Raines (Gloucester, Va./UNC Greensboro) made six saves in recording the win.

ECC will play Jamestown Community College Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the ECC South Campus.
