Schmitt Wins 200-yard Breaststroke

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Jan. 22 - Erie Community College sophomore Rachelle Schmitt (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) won the 200-yard breaststroke with a NJCAA Championships qualifying time of 2:48.82 to lead the Kats at Saturday's ECC Invitational held at the Flickinger Center.


Freshman Brett Farrell (Derby, N.Y./Lake Shore) was second in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.30 seconds and third in the 100-yard freestyle in 50.83 seconds. Both times are qualifying marks for the NJCAA Championships.


Monroe Community College recorded 769 points to win the women's competition. ECC was fifth with 111.


On the men's side, Monroe CC scored 836 points to finish first while ECC's 153 points were fourth.


ECC will compete in the Genesee Community College Last Chance meet Jan. 29.
