Kats record back-to-back wins
CORNING, N.Y. (Sept. 4, 2010) – The Erie Community College men’s soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 4-2 victory over Corning Community College (0-1) Saturday.
The last time ECC opened a season with back-to-back wins was in 2006, defeating Cayuga Community College, 4-1, and SUNY Canton, 3-0. The last the Kats have won two-straight matches was in 2008, beating Cayuga, 5-2, on Oct. 6 and Niagara County Community College, 2-0, on Oct. 9.
“I felt we played a very dominant, possession-controlled game,” ECC head coach Bernie Feldmann said.
ECC freshman Pablo Ordonez gave the Kats a 1-0 lead before Corning tied the match.
The Kats gained momentum right before halftime when sophomore goalkeeper Craig Raines stopped a penalty shot and freshman Adan Mukumbira gave the Kats a 2-1 after sophomore Jon Sikorski dribbled down the sideline and found Mukumbira open in front of the net.
In the second half, Ordonez broke into the Corning offensive zone before passing to Mukumbira whose shot gave the Kats a 3-1 lead. Badr Mohammed then scored his first of the season, giving ECC a 4-1 lead with an unassisted tally.
The Kats return to action 5 p.m. Thursday against Genesee Community College at the ECC South Campus Field.
