The Erie Community College (7-8) baseball team came away with a split against Region III foe Jamestown Community College Tuesday afternoon in its home opener. Erie won the nightcap 5-2 after Jamestown had taken the opener 7-2.
The Kats trailed 2-0 after the top half of the first inning of the nightcap before plating three runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning. Sophomore pitcher Kiernan Harris then held the Jayhawks off the board the rest of the way. Harris went seven innings, allowing two runs on three hits.
Sophomore Shane Latshaw led the way offensively with two doubles and two RBI. Sophomore Alex Dusenberry was two-for-two with a double.
Dusenberry also had two hits in the opener for Erie.
The Kats return to action Thursday, April 1 when they visit Jamestown for a doubleheader that begins at 2 p.m.
