BUFFALO, N.Y. - (Nov. 29) - Led by three first-team selections, the Erie Community College football team had a total of eight players named to the All-Northeast Football Conference team, announced today by the league office.

ECC sophomore running back Zedric Joseph (West Palm Beach, Fla./Palm Beach Central)  was named to the first-team offense while sophomore linebacker Malcolm Ricks (Pompano Beach, Fla./Blanche Ely) and sophomore defensive end Tyler Lopes (West Seneca/West Seneca East) were on the first-team defense.

Joseph, who was twice chosen a NEFC offensive player of the week in 2010, was a second-team selection in 2009. Joseph ran for a team-high 497 yards and three touchdowns on 103 carries. He also caught 25 passes for 214 yards and two TDs. Joseph led the NEFC in all-purpose yards per game.

Ricks led ECC with 65 total (45 solo/20 assisted) tackles. He was credited for 13 tackles-for-loss. Ricks recorded 13 tackles (9 solo/4 assisted) against Dean College Oct. 16.

Lopes led the Kats with 17.5 tackles for loss and seven quarterback sacks among his 40 tackles (24 solo/16 assisted). Lopes was named the NEFC defensive player of the week Sept. 21 after recording eight tackles (4 solo) in the Kats’ overtime win at Alfred State Sept. 18. He had a school-record six tackles for loss (34 yards) and four of them were credited as sacks for a loss of 30 yards.

ECC placed three players on the second team: sophomore defensive back Destry Berry (Atlanta/Collins Hills), sophomore defensive back Rashad Payne (Pompano Beach, Fla./Blanche Ely) and sophomore kick returner Ben Pinkard (Irma, S.C./Dutch Fork). Payne was a repeat selection to the second-team defense.

The Kats had two players – sophomore offensive lineman Kevin Marks (Buffalo/McKinley) and freshman linebacker Brian Doyle (Syracuse/G.W. Fowler) – named to the NEFC third-team offense and defense, respectively.
