Wednesday, March 13, 2013

TAMPA, Fla. - March 13 - The Erie Community College baseball team suffered its third-straight loss, a 9-8 decision to the Ontario Terriers, Wednesday. The Kats, which received votes in Wednesday's NJCAA Division III poll, allowed two runs in the top of the ninth for the loss. ECC did plate a run in its half of the ninth and had a runner in scoring position with one out but could not get the runner home.

Freshman catcher Zach Hayes (Orchard Park, N.Y./Bishop Timon-St. Jude) drove in two runs, recording a sacrifice fly in ECC's five-run third inning and adding a RBI single in the fifth.

The Kats, now 4-4, will continue their 12-game Florida trip with games Thursday with a 10 a.m. game against the Schenectady County CC and a 1 p.m. contest versus the Ontario Prospects.
