Kats' Relay Teams Take 10th

BUFFALO, N.Y. - March 2 - The Erie Community College men's and women's swimming and diving teams are both in 12th place after Wednesday's events at the NJCAA Swimming & Diving Championships at ECC's Burt Flickinger Athletic Center.

The Kats' women's 400 medley relay team of Julie Kaczmarek (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore West), Rachelle Schmitt (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois), Caitlin Schwinge (Amherst/Sweet Home), and Raena Koeppel (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) finished 10th with a time of 4:47.42.

On the men's side, ECC's 800 freestyle relay team of Ryan Tomporowski (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca East), Ryan Walter (Angola, N.Y./St. Francis), Mike Mazurkiewicz (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga), and Brett Farrell (Derby, N.Y./Lake Shore) was 10th at 8:15.95.

In both the men's and women's sides, ECC has scored 14 points to be in 12th place. Indian River State College, the defending champion, leads with 80 points.

The championships continue tomorrow through Saturday.
