GLEN ELLYN, ILL. (Sept. 11, 2010) - Erie Community College quarterback Tyheen Taylor ran for 130 yards and two touchdowns but it was not enough as the Kats dropped a 20-15 non-conference decision to the College of DuPage (Ill.) Saturday at Bob MacDougall Field.
The Kats' defense forced two fumbles and intercepted one pass in the first half. One fumble, caused by Ellie Hyppolite and recovered by Chris Rainey gave the Kats the ball on the DuPage 28. On third and goal, Tyheen Taylor gave the Kats a 7-0 lead when he scrambled around right end, cut back and scored.
DuPage tied the score when Bryan Venson returned a ECC punt 49 yards. Venson caught the punt near the center of the field, made one cut and broke down the right sideline.
In the second half, the Chaparrals changed quarterbacks and Bobby Vega led them on a 70-yard drive. Wade hit Orlando Thomas with a 6-yard pass for a 14-7 lead with 2:58 remaining in the quarter.
DuPage opened the fourth quarter with a drive that ended with a 6-yard pass from Cole Lanham to James Ali-Carr.
Taylor led ECC's answer as he ran a quarterback draw during a DuPage blitz and scrambled 49 yards for a touchdown. ECC's Nick McLean completed the conversion pass to Nick Perez on a fake to bring the Kats within five, 20-15, with 2:52 remaining.
ECC's last drive ended when Taylor was sacked and fumbled as time expired.
