Edukugho Leads Kats, Nwora Ties Win Mark

NORTH EAST, Pa. – Feb. 2 – Freshman forward Eyimofee Edukugho posted career highs in points and rebounds as the No. 11 Erie Community College men’s basketball team recorded a 112-107 win over Mercyhurt North East Thursday night in Western New York Athletic Conference action.
Edukugho, who hails from Warri, Nigeria, scored 29 points and snared 15 rebounds as the Kats improved to 14-3. Sophomore forward Uche Ogbonna (Westbury, N.Y./Hicksville) added 25 points and nine rebounds while sophomore guard Dequan Jones (Brooklyn, N.Y./Pacific) recorded 23 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Sam Hattin (Hamilton, Ont./Our Savior) came off the bench to make four three-point field goals on his way to 14 points.

Head coach Alex Nwora has now tied the school record for most career wins. George Killian, the Kats’ coach from the 1954-55 to 1968-69 seasons, set the mark with 253.
