WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - May 6 - The Erie Community College softball team plated two runs in the first, third, and fourth innings recorded a 6-2 win in game two of Sunday's Region III doubleheader against Jamestown CC-Cattaraugus County at Santo DeSain Field. Jamestown CC-CC won the opener, 5-1.
The Kats, now 13-13, got on the board when sophomore outfielder Maria Cirello (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) and freshman outfielder Cayla Galus (Tonawanda, N.Y./Tonawanda) each walked. Freshman pitcher Hannah Foster (Collins, N.Y./Springville) then drove in Cirello with a single and Galus scored on an error.
Cirello scored on the third when she reached on an error, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, stole third and then scored on a wild pitch. Galus scored when Laura Ryals (Graham, N.C./Graham) reached on an error.
Sophomore infielder Lisa Keating (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca West) opened the fourth by reaching on an error. Galus also reached on an error and both scored when Foster singled to center. On the day, Foster had two hits, three runs batted in and struck out nine Jaguars.
In game one, ECC was hitless until Keating tripled in the fifth inning. The Kats plated a run in the seventh. Ryals opened the inning with a single and advanced to third on an error. She scored when Keating reached on another error.
