ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – Nov. 19 – The Erie Community College football team placed nine players on the All-Northeast Football Conference team, announced today by the league.
Freshman linebacker Devin Coney (New Orleans, La./Independence) and freshman kicker Tyler Blackburn (Montrose, Mich./Mich.) were the Kats’ representatives on the first team. Coney led the Kats with 67 tackles, including six tackles for loss. Coney’s single-season total of 42 assisted tackles ranks second at ECC while his 14 total tackles vs. Lackawanna Oct. 6 tied the school record for a game. Blackburn made five field goals, including a school-record tying 52-yard effort.
Freshman running back Jacob Wims (Rochester, N.Y./John Marshall) and freshman defensive lineman Brandon Cannon (Auburn, Ala./Auburn) were on the second team. Wims ran for 555 yards and two touchdowns. He ran for 210 yards, an effort that ranks third on the all-time ECC charts, against Dean Oct. 13. Cannon registered 41 tackles to rank third on the team.
Sophomore offensive lineman Randy McCray (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood), freshman offensive lineman Sean Plunkett (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius), freshman defensive linemen Jacob Kutz (Westlake, Ohio/Westlake) and Ken Robinson (Newark, N.J./Weequahic) and sophomore defensive back Dorian Polk (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) were named to the third team.
