ALFRED, N.Y. – Jan. 21 – Sophomore forward Bianca Dennis (Cleveland, Ohio/Maple Heights) completed a conventional three-point play with 27 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Erie Community College women’s basketball team to a 68-66 win over Alfred State College Saturday. ECC improves to 1-0 in Western New York Athletic Conference play and 9-6 overall.
Dennis finished the game with 15 points and 10 rebounds, her second double-double of the season and fifth of her career. Sophomore Jasmine Ball (Buffalo/Bennett) added 16 points and nine rebounds. Mercedezes Ephraim (Cleveland/Maple Heights) scored 11 points.
Alfred State (9-5, 0-1) was led by Nuri Bey’s 16 points and 10 rebounds.
ASC’s Camille Romero sank two free throws with three seconds remaining to force overtime. Dennis had given ECC a 56-54 lead on a layup with 11 seconds remaining.
The game featured nine ties and 12 lead changes.
ECC will play at Genesee Community College at 6 p.m. Thursday.
