The Erie Community College (7-3/4-3 Region III) women’s lacrosse team came away with an 11-9 win over Broome Community College (4-4/4-3 Region III) in a back-and-forth affair at Jim Ball Stadium in Orchard Park.
Erie took an early 2-0 lead before Broome rebounded to go up 4-3 and then took a 6-5 advantage into halftime. The Kats scored the first two goals of the second half to retake a 7-6 advantage before Broome score the next two goals to hold the lead one last time. After that, Erie scored four unanswered goals to go up 11-8 and came away with the win.
Freshman Sarah Kirchberger led Erie with four goals and three assists. Kelsey McKeown, Laura Nerber and Jennie Cannata each netted two goals apiece and Jessica Flowers also tallied a goal.
Freshman goaltender Jessica Czamara made 14 saves for Erie.
Erie returns to action Tuesday, April 20 when it visits Cayuga Community College. The game is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
