The Erie Community College (0-8) softball team was swept in a pair of doubleheaders on the road over the weekend. Erie lost 7-4 and 3-2 to nationally sixth-ranked Corning Community College on Friday and then suffered 9-1 and 10-7 setbacks at Genesee Community College on Saturday.
Erie held a 4-3 lead through four innings in the first game at Corning before surrendering a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Freshman Courtney Bonivisutto had a two-run double in the game for Erie. Freshman Megan Marciniak and sophomore Ashley Coomber were each one-for-three at the plate.
In game two, Coomber was one-for-four with an RBI. Sophomore pitcher Carolyn Sickau went the distance in the circle. She allowed three runs on six hits.
Coomber was three-for-five in the doubleheader at Genesee. Sophomore Kristin Ball drove in three runs in game two and freshman Alyssa Taborn was two-for-four.
