Kaczmarek Wins Three, Kats Down Genesee CC

BATAVIA, N.Y. – (Dec. 8) – Erie Community College freshman swimmer Julia Kaczmarek (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore West) won the 50– and 500-yard freestyle events and the the 100-yard backstroke to lead women’s swimming to a 71-64 dual victory over Genesee Community College on Wednesday. Genesee CC picked up a 110-80 win in the men’s competition.

Sophomore Raena Koeppel (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) won two individual events, the  100-yard freestyle (1:07.13) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:29.19). Koeppel’s win in the 100-yard backstroke clinched the win for the Kats.

Sophomore Caitlin Schwinge (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) won the 200-yard individual medley and took the 1,000-yard freestyle.

Sophomore Mike Mazurkiewicz (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) won the 100-yard butterfly and the 500-yard freestyle.

The Kats are off until the Dec. 18 Erie CC Invitational. Action starts at 1 p.m. at the Flickinger Center.
