After its best regular season in the program’s five-year history, the Erie Community College women’s lacrosse team has earned the No. 3 seed in the NJCAA Region III Tournament to be held this Saturday-Sunday, May 1-2 at Herkimer County Community College.
Erie will face second seeded Monroe Community College at noon Saturday in the semifinals. The first semifinal game will match No. 4 Herkimer against top-seeded Onondaga Community College at 10 a.m.
The Kats won seven of their final nine games to finish the year with a 10-4 record. Monroe comes into the game with a 12-2 mark.
Erie has three of the top four point producers in Region III this season, including the only two 50-goal scorers. Sophomore Laura Nerber leads the way with 52 goals and 18 assists. Freshman Sarah Kirchberger has 51 goals and 18 assists and freshman Kelsey McKeown has 36 goals and 32 assists.
Freshman goaltender Jessica Czamara has a .569 save percentage and is allowing 9.44 goals against average.
