In a game with several scoring runs, the Erie Community College women's soccer team ran out of time, falling 9-8 to Niagara County Community College 9-8 Thursday at NCCC. ECC is now 3-10-1 this season.
NCCC opened a 3-0 lead before the Kats ran off four unanswered goals. Freshman Kelsey Eggert (Alden/Alden H.S.) scored in the 27th minute with the assist going to sophomore Suzanne Jacobs (Amherst/Williamsville North). Jessica Dispenza (Orchard Park) scored three minutes later before Jacobs tied the score two minutes after Dispenza's goal. Katie Kerr (Angola/Lake Shore H.S.) then gave the Kats a 4-3 lead four minutes before halftime.
NCCC responded with five-straight goals for an 8-4 lead. The Thunderwolves made it 9-5 before the Kats scored the game's final three goals. Jacobs, who scored the Kats' fifth goal, netted the sixth goal before Nicole Zych scored two goals in the final 150 seconds to make it 9-8.
Shea Garby (Lancaster/Lancaster H.S.) made 10 saves.
ECC plays at Jamestown Community College Saturday at 1 p.m.
