The Erie Community College men’s bowling team won its 21st
Region III championship hosted by Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica on Sunday, February 14. Meanwhile, the Erie women finished second by just nine pins in the tournament.
Erie’s men finished with 10,593 pins, beating second-place Hudson Valley Community College by 42 pins. Three Erie bowlers earned All-Region recognition for their performance in the tournament. Freshman David Zajac was third overall with 1,893 pins. Freshman Jake Kent was fifth overall with 1,880 pins and freshman Ted Chojecki was sixth overall with 1,878 pins, including a 300-game in singles play.
The Lady Kats finished with 9,331 pins, falling just behind Hudson Valley Community College’s 9,340 pins. Krystal Gravelle, Jenna Law and Allyson Harvey each earned All-Region recognition. Gravelle was fourth overall with 1,648 pins. Law was fifth with 1,638 pins and Harvey was sixth with 1,606 pins.
Erie returns to action Friday-Saturday, March 5-6 when it hosts the NJCAA national championship at Thruway Lanes in Cheektowaga.
