BUFFALO, N.Y. – Jan. 28 – The Erie Community College women’s basketball used its inside presence to record a 61-57 win over No. 20 Jamestown Community College Saturday afternoon at the Flickinger Center.
The Kats, now 11-6 and 3-0 in Western New York Athletic Conference play, were led by sophomore forward Jasmine Ball (Buffalo, N.Y./Bennett) and her game-high 18 points. She added nine rebounds. Freshman forward Charmaine Weaver (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) added 13 points and 11 rebounds for second double-double of the season. Freshman forward Paige Hennings (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cleveland Hill) added 10 rebounds to go with eight points and four blocked shots.
Ball scored inside with eight minutes remaining to give ECC a 51-49 lead. She added two more baskets for a 55-51 edge before Mercedezes Ephraim (Cleveland, Ohio/Maple Heights) sank a three-point field goal for a 58-51 edge with 2:27 remaining.
ECC will play at NJCAA Division I member Monroe Community College, which is 17-3, Tuesday night in Rochester, N.Y.
