Barry's Homer Leads Kats to Split

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - April 28 - Sophomore outfielder Brian Barry (Derby, N.Y./Lake Shore) hit a three-run homer to lead the Erie Community College baseball team to a 6-2 win in game two of Sunday's doubleheader against Mercyhurst North East in Western New York Athletic Conference action. Mercyhurst North East won the opener, 18-2.

Following singles by Nick Caboot (Derby, N.Y./Lake Shore) and Brett Bauth (Lancaster, N.Y./St. Mary's), Barry hit a one-out homer to center field for a 3-1 lead. Barry ranks third in the nation in homers (7) and runs batted in (52). Bauth and Caboot each had two hits.

In the opener, Nick Manoukarakis (Toronto, Ont./Birchmount Park) had three hits.

The Kats, now 29-14, will play 10th-ranked Niagara County CC at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the ECC north campus diamond.
