WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - May 5 - Sophomore pitcher Molly Gasuik (Buffalo, N.Y./Mt. Mercy) helped her own cause by scoring the go-ahead run in the sixth inning as the Erie Community College softball team recorded a 2-1 win over Onondaga CC Saturday afternoon at Santo DeSain Field. ECC added an 8-6 win in game two to improve to 12-12 overall.
Gasuik, who picked up her fifth win of the season by allowing four hits and striking out seven, led off the inning with a walk and then advanced to second on a passed ball. She scored on an Onondaga CC error. In the seventh, the Kats were aided by a sliding catch by freshman outfielder Lindsey Boling (Alden, N.Y./Alden).
The Kats scored in the first inning when sophomore outfielder Maria Cirello (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) was hit by a pitch and then scored on a double by freshman infielder Korin Frantz (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island).
In the nightcap, Hannah Foster (Collins, N.Y./Springville) had two hits in game two. Frantz had a two-run double as the Kats used four hits to score six runs in the second inning.
ECC will close the regular season Sunday against Jamestown CC-Cattaraugus County at 1 p.m. at Santo DeSain Field.
