SANBORN, N.Y. - Oct. 30 – The Erie Community College volleyball team, ranked eighth in the nation, swept Broome Community College 25-19, 25-21, 25-18 Sunday in the Region III semifinal round at Niagara County Community College. The Kats, now 29-3, advance to play No. 6 and unbeaten (32-0) Niagara County CC in the championship match.
After winning the first set, the Kats trailed 13-8 before going on a 13-3 rally to take command and record the 25-21 win. In the third set, ECC opened an 11-4 lead before closing the match with a kill by Susan Muldoon (Buffalo/Mt. Mercy Academy). A Muldoon ace brought the Kats to game point.
Muldoon led the Kats with 17 kills and 14 digs while Rylie Bean (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) added 14 kills and four blocks.
“We just played really well against Broome,” ECC head coach Craig Starzynski said. “We served strong and did a good job in serve receive. Those things allowed us to get a lot of kills, especially a lot of first-ball kills.”
