Kats Improve to 9-3 with 8-3 Victory

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. - (Dec. 12) - The Erie Community College hockey team picked up its second consecutive win with an 8-3 victory over the RIT club team Sunday afternoon at the Cheektowaga Recreation Center Ice Rink. ECC improves to 9-3.

Ryan Vertino (Grand Island, N.Y.) scored two goals and added an assist while Frank Briandi (Tonawanda, N.Y.) had a goal and three assists.

Vertino gave the Kats a quick 1-0 lead on a goal 1:50 into the contest. Michael Boice (Kenmore, N.Y.) added a goal 35 seconds later for a quick 2-0 ECC lead.

Nicholas Friol (Orchard Park, N.Y.) gave ECC a 6-2 lead with a goal 64 seconds into the third period. Friol also added two assists.

Sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Yelich (Fredonia, N.Y.) made 17 saves.

The Kats, who defeated Mohawk Valley Community College 10-3 Saturday, are off until Jan. 11 when they face Monroe Community College at the Cheektowaga Recreation Center Ice Rink.
