BUFFALO, NY - The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) released their final standings for the 2013-14 basketball season and both the Erie Community College men's and women's basketball teams made the regional playoffs.
For the men, the number one seed was Monroe Community College with their 11-1 record and they will host the men's semifinal and championship games on March 1-2. The Kats finished as the second seed and received a first round bye. This was due to their 8-4 record in the conference and because they defeated Genesee Community College twice as the tiebreaker. They will play the winner of the third and sixth seed which will be Genesee Community College and Jamestown Community College. That game will take place today (Feb. 25).
The Kats will travel to Monroe Community College and play their semifinal game on March 1st at 3 p.m. The final will be played on March 2nd at 3 p.m.
For the women, the Lady Kats also finished as the second seed. Niagara County Community College will host the tournament and will play the winner of the fourth and fifth seed today (Feb. 25). As for the Lady Kats, they will play the third seed, Jamestown Community College on March 1st at 3 p.m. at NCCC. The winner of that game will play in the final on March 2nd at 1 p.m.
