BUFFALO, N.Y. – Oct. 16 – Brett Farrell, a member of the 2011 Erie Community College men’s swimming team, died earlier today as a result of injuries suffered in a car accident.
“Our thoughts and prayers go to his family as a result of this tragedy. Brett died much too soon, and his passing is a terrible reminder that life is all too short. On behalf of everyone at ECC, our thoughts are with his friends and family at this difficult time,” said Brad Boyle, ECC head swimming coach.
Farrell was the 2011 Region III 100 freestyle champion and was chosen as Region III Male Athlete of the Week during the 2010-11 season. He competed in the 2011 NJCAA National Swimming and Diving Championships and finished in the top 10 as a member of ECC's 200 and 800 freestyle relays and in the top 15 in the 200 medley relay.
