ECC Wins Opener, Drops Nightcap vs. NCCC

SANBORN, N.Y. - April 5 - The Erie Community College used a five-run first inning to record a 9-2 win over Niagara County Community College in game on the Region III doubleheader at NCCC. The Thunderwolves recorded a 3-1 victory in the nightcap.

ECC sophomore Molly Gasuik (Buffalo, N.Y./Mt. Mercy Academy) drove in three runs in the first inning and finished game one with two hits and four RBI. Pitcher Hannah Foster (Collins, N.Y./Springville) also drove in four runs and struck out five to pick up the win. Freshman outfielder Cayla Galus (Tonawanda, N.Y./Tonawanda) had two hits while Lisa Keating (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca West) and Korin Frantz (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) each doubled.

Foster had two hits for the Kats in game two while Gasuik struck out seven. ECC had two runners on base in the top of the seventh but could not drive in either.

ECC, now 5-6 overall, is off until April 12 when the Kats will play Monroe CC, the nation's ninth-ranked team, in Rochester.
