LOUISBURG, N.C. – Sept. 3 – After building a 17-14 lead, turnovers cost the Erie Community College football team in its 34-20 loss to Louisburg College Saturday afternoon in Northeast Football Conference play. The Hurricanes scored 20 second-half points, highlighted by touchdown passes of 45 and 90 yards.
Trailing 28-17, the Kats had a pass intercepted in the Louisburg end zone and then marched down the field on their next possession, only to have another pass intercepted, this time inside the LC 5-yardline. Following the second interception, Louisburg scored on a 90-yard pass play.
Sophomore wide received Shayon Headley (St. Petersburg, Fla./Lakewood) caught a 38-yard touchdown pass from Joe Daddario (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-Dewitt). Daddario also threw a touchdown pass to Nate Goldsmith (Buffalo, N.Y./Cleveland Hill).
Sophomore linebacker Brian Doyle (Syracuse, N.Y./G.W. Fowler) had a career-high 10 solo tackles while freshman linebacker Kyril Threats (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius) added seven solo tackles.
Louisburg College got a school-record 161 rushing yards and three touchdowns from Rasheed Williams.
Erie CC (0-2) will play at Alfred State College at 7 p.m. Sept. 17.
