BUFFALO, N.Y. - Feb. 9 - The Erie Community College men's basketball team, the nation's eighth-ranked team, had five players score in double figures as the Kats recorded a 108-71 win over Alfred State College Thursday night at the Flickinger Center.
ECC, 17-3 overall and 7-1 in Western New York Athletic Conference play, was led by freshman guard Darale Young (Buffalo/Middle College) who scored a career-high 21 points. Young led the team with five three-point field goals as the Kats made a season-high 14 three-pointers. Sophomore guard Haruna Sule (Kano, Nigeria/Addiyah) added 20 points, including four three-point field goals. Sophomore forward Uche Ogbonna (Westbury, N.Y./Hicksville) picked up 13 points while sophomore guard Dequan Jones (Brooklyn, N.Y./Pacific) recorded 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Freshman forward Edyimofee Edukugho (Warri, Nigeria/Our Savior New American School) added 11 points.
The Kats will play Genesee Community College at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Flickinger Center.
