BUFFALO, N.Y. - July 9 - Brandon Emmitt, who has played the past two seasons with the Erie Community College men’s basketball team, has announced he will join the Gannon (Pa.) University program. Emmitt, from Akron, Ohio/Garfield, appeared in 60 games for the Kats as they won back-to-back Region III titles and appeared in the NJCAA Division II Tournament.
At the 2012 NJCAA Division II Tournament in Danville, Ill., Emmitt sank a three-point field goal at buzzer to lead Kats to an 84-81 win over Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley (Mo.). ECC would finish seventh. He was named Region III Male Athlete of the Week (12/16/11) after scoring season-high 19 points against Mid Michigan to go with five assists. At the Region III Tournament, Emmitt recorded 16 points and seven assists to lead the Kats to a semifinal win.
In 2010-11, he was chosen to the Region III All-Tournament team after scoring a then career-high 16 points against Monroe CC in Region III Championship. He appeared in 28 games, starting seven, and scored in double figures seven times. He scored 10-or-more points in four-straight games (2/15-2/27) and sank four three-point field goals on three occasions. Emmitt snared career-best six rebounds against No. 2 Louisburg (N.C.) College in NJCAA Tournament quarterfinal win. He set a season best when he recorded eight assists against Monroe CC and dished five-or-more assists in five other games. He made a career-high four steals against Seneca (Ont.) College.
