Kats Swept by NCCC

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - April 28 - The Erie Community College baseball team dropped both games of Saturday afternoon's doubleheader against Niagara County Community College at the ECC North Campus. NCCC picked up a 6-3 win in nine innings in game one and then recorded a 3-2 victory in the nightcap. The Kats are now 25-14 overall while NCCC is 25-19-1.

In game one, ECC's Mike Wagner (Williamsville, N.Y./St. Mary's) singled and drove in a run while sophomore Joe Pantano (Fredonia, N.Y./St. Francis) drove in a run and scored a run. Wagner extended his hit streak to 14 games. Brandon Nemeti (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) struck out seven batters in seven innings but did not get a decision. After scoring a run in the seventh to force extra innings, NCCC's Dylan Baun drove in two runs in the ninth inning to give the Thunderwolves the win.

In game two, the Kats took a 2-1 lead after two innings by plating two runs in the second. Sophomore outfielder Dylan Huch (Gowanda, N.Y./Gowanda) and freshman infielder Adam Urschel (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) each had RBI singles. NCCC took a 3-2 lead with a two-run single by Baun. ECC sophomore Rich Corrente (Chatham, Ont./ESPC) pitched a complete game, striking out five and allowing five hits.

The teams will play a 1 p.m. doubleheader Sunday at NCCC in Sanborn, N.Y.
