BUFFALO, N.Y. – Feb. 23 – The Erie Community College hockey team, the nation’s second-ranked team, had sophomore forward Christopher Kendall (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) named to the All-Region III first team. Kendall is tied for fourth in the NJCAA with 45 points (15 goals/30 assists) in 22 games.
The Kats had two players, freshman forward Scott Roy (Rockland, Ont.) and sophomore defenseman Derek MacNeil (Lake View, N.Y.) named to the second team. Roy led Region III in scoring with 52 points (33 goals/19 assists), a mark that is third in the nation. He also tallied nine power-play goals. MacNeil skated in 22 games, recording 10 points (1 goal/9 assists).
Freshman forward Josh Jaszcz (Cheektowaga, N.Y./West Seneca East) was named to the All-Region III Rookie Team. He has recorded 33 points (17 goals/16 assists) in 22 games.
The Kats, 19-4, play Williston (N.D.) State College at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the NJCAA Tournament held at the Sports Centre in Rochester, N.Y. The championship game is at 2 p.m. Sunday. ECC is the defending national champion.
