ECC Men's Team Wins 18th NJCAA Bowling Title

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - March 5 – The Erie Community College men’s bowling team captured its 18th national title Saturday at the NJCAA Bowling Championships at Transit Lanes.
The Kats, who won their first title since 2007, knocked down 13,638 pins to top Hudson Valley Community College by 64 pins. ECC was led by sophomore David Zajac (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) who captured the men’s all-events title as he posted a score of 2,691 win by 159 pins.
Zajac is the 14th member of the ECC program to win the all-events title and the first since Ryan Ciminelli won the 2007 title.
Zajac was joined by Ted Chojecki (West Seneca, N.Y.) on the NJCAA All-America team. Chojecki finished fourth in the all-events competition at 2,450. Freshmen Branden Simone (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) was 14th at 2,311 and Tyler Skoczylas (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) was 18th at 2,279.
ECC Jerry Carroll was named the NJCAA Coach of the Year.
On the women’s side, ECC was fourth at 11,433. Mohawk Valley Community College won the title with 12,236.
Jenna Law (Milford, Mich.) led ECC by finishing ninth at 2,121. Alyssa Narkiewicz (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) was 12th at 2,085.
